6 TYPOLOGY QUESTIONS


1.  Which building typology you are researching?
I will be researching various commuter terminals i.e. Airports, Bus terminals, Ferry terminals, Train stations, etc.

2.  Why are you researching this building typology?
I wanted to challenge myself by doing something I haven't yet done. I also wanted to do something that is uncommon and unique in the Red Hook waterfront. A project that could be seen as a gateway to Red Hook.

3.  What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research i.e.   museum for dance, school for digital media…
This will be a common gathering space for commuters and will include mix-use facilities that will serve the community.  Some of these Mixed-use facilities include but are not limited to, public library, police station, park, shopping center among others.

4.  What are the examples that you will be researching… list the examples, location and architect  (10 examples)

5.  What are your goals for working with this building type?
To do something different/design spaces and programs I haven't done before. Also to create a new landmark that will revitalize the Red Hook district and bring people to see the great neighborhood.

6.  What are the program elements that you see included at this point in your
A large main gathering space, common commuter circulation, Retail and shopping and access to third party transportation, i.e. private cars and taxis.
